Circuits

Here is a schematic diagram. This circuit includes a lightbulb and switch. Remember that the electricity flows from the negative terminal of the cell (aka: battery) to the positive terminal. Notice that the lightbulb is lit when the switch is closed and the electrons are able to flow.

When electricians and electrical engineers record their circuits, they use drawings called schematic diagrams. They use symbols (simple drawings) that are easy to draw for the components (bulbs, wires, and batteries).

Schematics are always drawn with square corners to keep them neat.
